238th & Hawthorne, an office and retail development, is part of the Hawthorne Boulevard specific plan. It's purpose is to create a cohesive, inviting commerical corridor along Hawthorne Boulevard. The design incorporates Mediterranean styled architecture utilizing the traditional "Courtyard theme" that provides an open-air entry and circulation to the office suites and a pleasant entry for the building. The symmetrical street elevation creates a balanced façade, with the hierarchy at the building's corners to emphasize its scale for visibility and distinct character along it's main façade. The internal elevations incorportate a simpler massing with traditional details for a more "old world" character.
